Get to Know Your Experts |  What's Their "Why"?
Everyone is unique; we have different passions, interests and motivators to excel in what we do
What's Talysha’s Why?
For Talysha, the most rewarding part of her work is witnessing those transformative “lightbulb moments” and celebrating the shared “high-fives” when her patients achieve their goals.
"If I had to choose between helping an elite runner shave two seconds off their race time or helping someone regain strength and confidence in everyday life, I’d choose the latter. Being able to do grocery shopping independently or returning to the weekend 5km Park Run is just as meaningful—and that’s what I love helping people achieve."
A Career Driven by Curiosity and Care
Talysha’s career has always been rooted in a deep desire to help people and uncover answers. From the beginning, she has been committed to finding solutions for patients with conditions that maybe haven't respond to standard treatments, have unusual presentations, or just haven't found the right clinician. She actively researches, learns, and consults with her network of experts to better understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and how she may be able to help.
This motivation and dedication continue to shape her practice today.
"Sometimes, the best treatment is a good referral. We won’t always have all the answers, but we have a responsibility to try. If I’m not the best person to help, I’ll connect with my network to find someone who can."
Treating People, Not Just Pathologies
Talysha approaches care as a collaborative effort, not a one-sided directive. She sees her role as collecting all relevant information—from patients and her assessments—to develop the most effective treatment options. Importantly, she empowers her patients by providing clear, comprehensive information so they can make informed decisions about their care.
"I always ensure my patients understand what’s happening to their body, why it’s happening, and the available treatment options. Together, we create a plan. Life circumstances like financial constraints or other responsibilities can affect which treatments are feasible, and we navigate these challenges as a team."
Beyond the Clinic: Teaching the Next Generation
Talysha’s clinical philosophy aligns closely with her approach to teaching university students and practicing clinicians. She emphasises that there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution in healthcare. Every patient’s condition is assessed and addressed individually.
"Cookie-cutter protocols might work 20% of the time, but that leaves 80% of patients with limited improvement, no improvement—or unfortunately, worsening of their condition. While systematic assessments are essential to gather information, treatments must be tailored. What works for one patient may be completely wrong for another."
Through her dedication to personalised care and her refusal to settle for generic solutions, Talysha ensures every patient and student is given the best opportunity to succeed. Her passion for helping people achieve meaningful goals and her commitment to lifelong learning make her an inspiring expert in her field.
